CAREMATRIX ANNOUNCES OPENING NINETEEN FACILITIES
Needham, MA, April 6, 1999 - CareMatrix Corporation (AMEX: CMD), a fully integrated assisted living company, today announced that it has opened nineteen facilities with a total of 2,142 units in the past six months.
The Company increased its' cluster market focus by adding five facilities with 618 units in metropolitan New York, our largest cluster market, as well as a total of seven facilities in our mid-Atlantic and Florida cluster markets, four in the West Coast and three in other markets.
Andrew D. Gosman, President of CareMatrix Corporation commented, "These openings are the results of our aggressive construction and development pipeline. Currently, we have approximately 80 projects with 9,200 units at different stages, either in development or construction."
Mr. Gosman further stated, "In line with our strategy of "Continuum of Care" in allowing our residents to "age in place," twelve of the newly opened facilities provide Alzheimer's care with a total of nearly 300 units. Additionally, and in line with our campus philosophy, we added a facility with 123 independent/assisted living units to our campus in Ridgefield, Connecticut where we already have an extended/Alzheimer's care facility."
In conclusion, Mr. Gosman said, "We are very happy with the progress we have made in opening new facilities, increasing our cluster markets and extending our campus developments."
